Chevron Crazy with Vinyls from The Little LacquerBean

Hey guys!

So if you guys follow me on Instagram (@pinkandpolishednails) you might have seen a little while ago I posted about my decision to join the indie scene. Yup, you read that right I'm going to be making nail polish!! Woohoo!! It's been quite a while in the works but I'm excited to finally be able to say that I should be opening up shop in the middle of September! And not only will I be creating polish, I'm also going to be making nail vinyls. If you don't know what vinyls are, they are basically stickers that you can apply to your nails and use to create beautiful designs. I've actually used my mini chevron vinyls to create the design you'll see below. So let me know what you think :)

I started off with a base of Orly Decades Of Dysfunction. When my base was dry I applied my vinyls and used Lime Crime Parfait Day, China Glaze Too Yacht To Handle, and OPI You Don't Know Jacques! to create the chevrons. I topped it off with a generous coat of Essie Good To Go and the design was finished!

I'm so excited to finally be able to share all of the news with you guys, there's a lot of things that are going to be happening really soon! What do you think of the vinyls? Would you guys buy them??

Thanks loves :)

Blue Clouds

I was feeing rather "blue" the other day... as in, I was craving some blue polish!! ;) So I decided to peruse google for some inspiration and I saw quite a few cloud manicures and I realized that I haven't done one in such a long time.

Now that just ain't right! ;)

So why not get the best of both worlds, blue AND cloud nails!

I started off with a base of Color Club In De-Nile. After that I created the first 'cloud' with Color Club Over The Moon. Then I created the second 'cloud' with Maybelline Color Show Navy Narcissist. Finally I sealed everything in with some Essie Good To Go and the design was finished!

I forgot how much I truly enjoyed the look of a cloud manicure. And really they are so easy to create! You don't even need any fancy tools, just polish and the brush that comes with it.

When was the last time you created a cloud manicure? Maybe it's time for another one!

Thanks loves :)

Abstract geometric

Ever have one of those nights where you can't figure out what to paint on your nails so you just start randomly doodling?

Yeah that definitely happened to me and the result is a geometric type design with some cool metallic and some pastel colors :)

I started off this design with a base of Sally Hansen Silver Sweep. When that was dry I free handed some triangles on using Essie Penny Talk and outlined them with Lime Crime Parfait Day. Lastly I added some yellow lines through the triangles using Lime Crime Crema de Limon and I finished my design off with some Essie Good To Go.

They are a bit strange I suppose but I kind of feel like they are a fun geometric-esque design. Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of doodling to get a fun design on your nails! And sometimes it's just enough to make people to go "huh?" ;) You tell me which situation you think this is!

Chevron dots

When lack of inspiration hits it's low point.... we turn to dots!

LOL I did these nails back when I was struggling for nail inspiration, but they actually came out better then I thought they would. Can this even technically be called a chevron though? Hmmmm I hope so or I have no idea what I would call these ;)

I started off with a base of China Glaze Escaping Reality. Then I used Color Club Beyond, Color Club Miss Bliss, and a couple of different sized dotting tools along with a tooth pick to create all of the dots. I finished the design off with a coat of Essie Good To Go

While I didn't know exactly where these nails were going, I quite like the out come. It's a sort of abstract dotted chevron-thingy. Oh.... and it's PINK! So obviously I like it duhhhhhhh ;)

Thanks for reading guys :)

Pink Herringbone

I sure do love a good herringbone design!

So when I saw THIS design on the ever talented Sam from The Nailasaurus I knew I had to bust out the striping tape one more time! I have to confess, I absolutely hate striping tape. 9 times out of 10 I will free hand stripes over using striping tape. But this particular design needs those crisp lines that striping tape can create so I had to suck it up for the love of nail art! ;)

I started off this design with a base of Essie Blanc on my middle and ring finger. Then I taped off one half of the nail and applied the striping tape. I painted over it using Ruby Wing Kitten Heels. I pulled the tape off and did the same thing on the other side. On the rest of my nails I started with a base of China Glaze Too Yacht To Handle and added a layer of HITS Hefesto on top. I top coated everything with Essie Good To Go and the design was finished!

I really enjoyed wearing this design I actually kept it on for 6 days straight! The sweet color combination of the pink and mint coupled with the crisp lines make this one of my favorite designs to date!

Navy french tips with white baby dots

French tipped nails have to be some of my favorite designs to create. Something about that crisp smile line just makes me all giddy inside ;) LOL

Want to get started?

Okay to start off these fun blue nails I used OPI Bubble Bath to have a great base. When it dried completely I used hole reinforcement stickers, cut them in half, and placed them on my nails. I used Maybelline Color Show Navy Narcissist and painted the french tip. I removed the hole reinforcement stickers and used a toothpick and white acrylic paint to create the tiny dots. I sealed it all in with a coat of Essie Good To Go to finish.

You can customize french tip nails so many different ways by using different colors or adding fun designs on top. But one thing is certain, french tips will always be a classic no mater how you dress them up.

What's your favorite french tipped design?

Thanks loves :)

I scream for ice cream!

Who doesn't love a delicious ice cream on a hot summer day?

I know I do!

You know what else I love? Melty ice cream cones on my nails to accompany that tasty treat ;)

Let's get started! I started these yummy nails with a base of China Glaze Fast Track. When it dried I created the cone with brown acrylic paint. I used a large dotting tool and a nail art brush to create the drips with light pink acrylic paint and then painted on the sprinkles with a tooth pick and white, pink, blue, and green acrylic paint. I finished it off with a generous coat of Essie Good To Go.

Okay so am I the only one that really wants ice cream now?! I almost painted my favorite flavor Maine Black Bear but the classic strawberry never goes out of style. Maybe next time ;)

What about you guys, what's your favorite ice cream flavor?

Thanks loves :)

Cheetah-licious

Hey guys!

So I've got to confess, I absolutely love cheetah / leopard print. LIterally if you put it on anything I will buy it I don't even care what it is LOL! But... I never really post cheetah / leopard nail art on here because, well... I suck at it! There! I said it I suck at it! Haha I like to think I'm okay at it but then I see all of these super talented nail artists out there and they make mine look like garbage! Eh, what are you going to do though amirite? I've got to let my love for cheetah / leopard print shine on!!

Let's get started then shall we?

I started with a base of China Glaze Fast Track on all of my nails. When that dried I used tape to create triangles near my cuticle and painted them with OPI Big Apple Red. I created the print using China Glaze Harvest Moon and black acrylic paint. Then I outlined the red triangles with Color Club Beyond, added some holographic hearts and a generous layer of Essie Good-To-Go to finish it off.

So they aren't the best ever, but I'm definitely loving the color combination here. It's so classic!

What do you guys think?

Thanks loves :)

Zebra Half Moons

Freehand zebra print...

Not exactly my forte, I definitely need a lot more practice but I'm proud enough of these to show them to you guys :) Plus, I did some half moons using my current favorite color, CHina Glaze Too Yacht To Handle! ;)

Let's get started!

I started off with a base of Essie Blanc on all of my nails. When it dried I painted on the half moons with China Glaze Too Yacht To Handle. I created the zebra print using Wet'n'Wild Black Creme and outlined the half moons with Color Club Beyond. I added some Essie Good-To-Go and a rhinestone on each nail to finish the design.

I know I still need some practice with the stripes but overall I'm pretty proud of these zebras! And I quite like the contrast between the dark zebra print and the bright mint.

So tell me guys, what's your favorite animal print?

Thanks loves :)

Bundle Monster Stamping with a touch of Holo

It's time for some more stamping!

I have to admit when I told you guys in one of my previous posts that I was going to go through all of the Bundle Monster 2013 CYO plates I thought it was going to be a LOT easier. I was wrong. Trying to use every single image is proving to be difficult. Some images I just really don't like, but I'm doing my best not to skip out on anything so I'll make it through eventually ;)

But today I've got a design that I do like! It's a tribal-esque, simple triangle / line combo image.

I started with a base of Color Club Eternal Beauty. When it was dry I stamped over it using Bundle Monster's plate BM-402 and Sally Hansen Silver Sweep. I sealed it all in with Essie Good To Go and the design was finished.

I really enjoyed this simple image and the silver / purple color combination. Simple yes, but beautiful too. Though I do have to say trying to get the lines straight across was such a pain in the butt!! ;)

Thanks loves :)

Olive You

I'm so excited for today's post guys you don't even know!

Why you ask? Because I'm finally starting to get back into some in depth nail art again and absolutely love it! I've been in a slump lately and even when I did some designs on my nails they were simple. Don't get me wrong I love simple nail art, it's always so striking. But sometimes I really love sitting down and spending hours creating art on my nails.

I saw this super cute photo on Google the other day of two cartoon olives and it said "Olive you" underneath them... get it? O-live you, I love you?! Come on tell me that's not the cutest thing ever??? LOL! I knew the instant I saw it that I had to recreate it on my nails so keep reading to see what I came up with :)

I started off the design with a base of Lime Crime Milky Ways on all of my nails. I created the "Olive You", hearts, dots, and olives by using acrylic paints in various colors. I added a layer of China Glaze Fairy Dust on my pinky for a little extra sparkle. Then I decided to mattify everything with NYC Matte Me Crazy and the design was finished!

I really fell in love with these nails. I wore them for a week straight and it was so hard for me to take them off!! I mean olives really?! ;)

Not only was I excited to do these nails, but after I finished them a whole slew of ideas came to my mind! I'm really happy to finally be getting over my nail art slump, hopefully anyways :) So here's to hoping that there's more art on the way!

And remember guys... Olive you all!! :)

Striped Tips

Stripes! Stripes everywhere!!!

I've been struggling with what to paint on my nails lately, I'm not sure where all my creative juices went but they sure ran away from me. *sigh* But never fear! I shall work past this block, it's the only way to get through.

I was experimenting with a few different designs and I came across this striped chevron french tip design that really stuck with me. So I decided to show you ;)

I started with a base of Ruby Wing Silk Sheets. When that dried I painted on the chevron tips with white acrylic paint. I then free handed on the black and purple stripes with acrylic paint. I topped the tips with some China Glaze Fairy Dust and then top coated everything with a generous coat of Essie Good-To-Go

Even though I've been having an artistic block I quite enjoyed this design. Simple, but still fun and colorful.

What about you guys, what do you do when you have a nail art block?

Thanks loves :)
