New Year's Eve dotticure

The end of 2013 is finally here...

With the new year comes looking back upon the life we've lived the year before and new resolutions for the year ahead. Me? I have to say I'm more then ready to see 2013 go. I seem to reflect a lot around this time of year and they don't say 13 is unlucky for nothing. This year has been the luckiest unlucky year of my life (if that makes any sense ;)). 2013 has been the biggest life changing year I've had. My ex-boyfriend of 5 years committed suicide in February and that was the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with. I went from being on top of the world to having nothing. Then when I tried to make something from all of the nothing his family turned on me. There was a whole lot on my plate, and no one to help me clean it. But it made me a stronger person and through the pain I found something precious, love. I found someone who takes my pain and fears away and always knows the right thing to say when I'm feeling like the world is crushing me. He is honestly the most caring, thoughtful, and loving man I have ever met and I consider myself one of the luckiest girls alive. I'm sure you all don't want to hear the sappy ;) but there's something very special about him, he's the one who showed me how to smile and laugh again when I thought I never would. He is the one who shoved me in the right direction and inspired me to follow my dreams; dreams that lead me to getting my nail tech license and never letting me give up on this blog. He knows me, and he knows what I love most, nail polish!

Speaking of nail polish, I'm sure you guys are done listening to my little reflection so let's move on to what you're here for! For my New Year's Eve manicure I wanted to do something a little different from the usual, black, gold, and silver... even though I absolutely love that combination! I've been feeling teal colors lately so I decided to switch out the silver for some teal and I haven't done a dotticure in far too long so I'm going to fit one more in before the year is finished!

I started with a base of Wet'n'Wild Black Creme. When that was dry I added the dots using China Glaze Mingle With Kringle and Zoya Zuza. For my ring I made a stripe of China Glaze Mingle With Kringle down the center of my nail and lined it with Zoya Zuza on either side. Then with acrylic paint I painted "MMXIV" [2014 in roman numerals]. I top coated it all with Poshe and I'm ready to partay!! ;)

And here's a little extra picture, just because I'm in the sappy mood ;) When my boyfriend asked me out he actually painted it on his short little nails in pink polish! He used China Glaze Pool Party, my favorite neon pink! Awwwwww ;) Excuse the poor condition of his hands, he's a diesel mechanic and this is about as clean as they get with scrubbing LOL!

2013 has come and almost gone, I'm much stronger then I was when it started and I'm jumping into 2014 and chasing my dreams. Who knows, maybe I'll catch some this year ;)

Thanks for always sticking it out with me guys, my blog is a source of true happiness for me and I hope that sometimes I can brighten your day too. :)

What's your New Year's resolution?

Countdown to Midnight: Gradient sparkle plus some CERTIFIED news!

Still counting down the days for the new year only a few left to go!

BUT! I'm going to start off with some news! As most of you know I was taking nail tech classes this fall so that I could get my nail technician license and finally be able to do what I love for a job. Well, I finished my classes last week and went to take my State Board exam on Saturday and I am now officially a licensed nail tech woohoo!!! While this may not be big news to you I'm over the moon because nails are my passion! And I couldn't leave my lovely readers in the dark! ;) LOL It's nice for this journey to have a happy ending and I can't wait to get started on the next chapter!

Okay now that that's out of the way let's get to the reason you're all here.. NAILS! The next New Year's inspired design is a fun and sparkly silver glitter gradient!

I started with a base of Wet'n'Wild Black Creme and sponged China Glaze Glistening Snow over the top. When It was dry I placed a black stud at the base of each nail. I finished with some Poshe and the design was finished.

I can't get enough of these super sparkly designs! Only one more day of 2013 is left, what are you going to do?

Thanks loves :)

Countdown to Midnight: Leopard Sparkle

Happy 2 days after Christmas!

I hope Santa was good to all of you! What was your favorite present? Mine has to be the black sequin UGG boots my grammy got me! But my favorite part of the day? Seeing my boyfriend almost cry from the gifts myself and my family got him because he's never had a big Christmas like we like to do. It made all of the money spent worth it. But shhhhhh don't tell anyone, he's still my manly man ;)

Now that Christmas is over though it's time to get ready to bring in the new year! I've done the first of a few New Year's themed manis to get you guys in the party mood and I've titled them 'Countdown to Midnight'. So if you have any ideas you want to show me go on instagram and tag #pinkandpolishedcountdowntomidnight and maybe I'll even feature you!

My first design is a fun sparkly leopard french perfect for adding that extra pizzazz to any New Year's outfit! I started with a base of OPI Bubble Bath to get rid of most of the staining on my nails. Then I created the french using OPI This Gown Needs A Crown. When it was dry I created the leopard print using China Glaze Harvest Moon and outlined it with Wet'n'Wild Black Creme. Some Poshe on top and you're good to go!

I love spicing up simple manis and honestly if you add sparkle to anything I'm going to love it!

What's your favorite way to add sparkle to your manis?
Thanks loves :)

Merry Christmas!

It's here! It's here!

Anyone else excited? I must admit I'm like a 5-year-old when it comes to Christmas, I love everything about it. Which would be why I'm posting this so early my time. Yes, my sister and I always get up at 3am and play video games until 7am when we go wake up our parents, yeah, be jealous! ;) I mean I'm only 22 and she 25 so that's still okay right?!?! LOL

Anyways, time for the nails! I struggled trying to come up with an idea for my Christmas nails until it hit me! Santa nails!! DUH!

I started with a base of China Glaze Glistening Snow on my index, middle, and pinky and China Glaze Angel Wings on my thumb and ring. I painted all of the designs on using acrylic paints and China Glaze Running in Circles and China Glaze Just Be-Claws. I finished it up with two generous coats of Poshe.

'attempted' to write Merry Christmas.... ;)

Fa-la-la-la-laaaaaa! Santa Claus is coming to town and I hope he treats you all good!!! ;) Me? I've already gotten the best present of all... all of you who come here and read my little blog!! So thank you guys for making this blog one of the best decisions I've ever made!! :)

What's on your nails today? Merry Christmas my cupcakes!!

Christmas Eve-icure

What the heck?

How did Christmas sneak up on me so quickly!?!? There are so many Christmas nail designs to be done that will never get done!! T.T I really don't even understand! *sigh* Christmas slow down please!

At least I have a design for Christmas Eve Day right?!

I started this look with a bast of Azature White on all or my nails. On the striped nails I used striping tape with China Glaze Santa Red My List, China Glaze Con-Fused?, and China Glaze Angel Wings. For my thumb and ring finger I did a glitter gradient using China Glaze Angel Wings and then applied a red and green rhinestone to the top. I topped is all off with some Poshe and the design was finished!

Totally digging this look! I'm so sad I have to take it off but sadly I haven't even thought about what my Christmas nails are going to be so I must find time today to figure them out! Suggestions welcome!!! :)

I hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas season and hopefully you're more prepared then I am!! ;)

Wrap it up!

T minus 4 days until Christmas and I'm..... completely unprepared!!! Oh boy.

Well I can't say completely, my shopping is all done but I have absolutely zero things wrapped. Ugh I despise wrapping, I mean what's the point of taking all the time to wrap something when a few days later someone is just going to rip it off? And no one likes just getting bags for Christmas! Bah! But they do look so pretty all wrapped in different colors and lined up in pretty rows. *sigh* I guess I've got a lot to work to do when I'm finished this!

Wrapping is such a pain but it much easier to do on your nails! Check out this design ;)

I started with a base of OPI This Gown Needs Crown on all of my nails. I painted the boxes using red and green acrylic paint and Maybelline Color Show Bold Gold for the little one at the top. I painted the bows using dark red acrylic paint and China Glaze Con-Fused?. A layer of top coat and the design was done!

I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend! I should be off to wrap but instead I'm going to go brave the crowds at the mall! Wish me luck LOL! ;)

Thanks loves :)

Oh dotted tree, Oh dotted tree!!

Rolling along on the Christmas posting train choo, choo!! ;)

My creative juices just may be returning to me, I'm feeling more inspired and I think my designs are starting to reflect that again. *Sigh* it feels good to be getting back into the swing of things!

Anyways I've been wanting to do a dotted Christmas tree design for a while and I'm super happy I decided to finally give it a go!

I started with a base of Azature White on all of my nails. For my thumb and ring I did the trees using China Glaze Con-Fused?, Blackheart Beauty Jealous Type, China Glaze Def Defying, and Maybelline Color Show Candy Apple. I topped the trees with some yellow acrylic paint. For my remaining fingers I used a striping brush and the same colors and painted some random stripes. I topped everything off with some Poshe and the deign was finished!

Look at that pudgy little Christmas tree! Awwwww

I wish I had my Christmas tree decorated when I did these nails I would have loved to have a photo with it! Maybe next time I suppose. I hope my creative mojo stays with me for a while but we'll see. ;)

Thanks for reading cupcakes!

Christmas skittles

I think I've finally gotten a hold of that whole Christmas spirit thing.

Well sort of anyways ;) I just finished decorating the tree and it smells like Christmas in my house so that must mean that it's Christmastime right?!

These nails are... okay. They aren't the best but I quite like the concept of them so hey, if the concept is good I must show them to you guys! I should have left the Christmas trees alone before I put the "star" on top but oh well, you live and learn.

I started off with a base of Maybelline Color Show Bold Gold on my thumb and ring finger and layered two coats of China Glaze Angel Wings over that. For my index and pinky I used a base of Maybelline Color Show Candy Apple and Blackheart Beauty Jealous Type on my middle. All of the designs were painted on with acrylic paints. A bit of top coat to finish and the design was done!

Yeah that's right I'm getting all Christmassy with my photos! BAM Christmastime :) And I mean if anyone gives me a present with that gold bow on it, I don't even care what it is as long as I can keep the bow I'll be the happiest EVAR!! ;)

What's your favorite Christmas nail design? Mine has got to be Grinch nails!

Thanks loves :)

Baroness Of Glitter Multichromes swatch and review

*press sample*
I have another round of polishes from Baroness of Glitter. These two are from her multichrome line which hasn't been released quite yet.

#1 is a pretty purple based multichrome with a red shift. You can see a little bit of the shift around the edges of my nails but look at the bottle shot if you really want to see what's up! The formula was very smooth but on the sheer side though it built up nicely. Swatches below are three easy coats and one top coat.

#2 is a blue based multichrome with a reddish/purple shift. I found it quite difficult to photograph the shift on this one, you can only see a tiny bit around the edges of my nails. It's pretty pronounced in the bottle though. The formula was the same as #1 smooth but sheer. Below is three coats with top coat.

Baroness Of Glitter polishes retail for $10.00USD for a 15mL bottle and $4.25USD for a 5mL bottle. You can purchase the polishes above and her other holiday collection HERE. She also sells some beautiful jewelry that you should check out: Demiflux and Elemental Haiku. Make sure you stay up to date with all the happenings by following her, there are separate sites for each of her stores!

Baroness of Glitter: Weird Science collection swatch and review

I really love working with newer indie brands. I love being able to help them spread the word about their new line and helping them get more exposure. With that being said, let me have the pleasure of introducing you to Baroness Of Glitter.

Baroness Of Glitter is a new indie brand, with the shop opening November 1st of this year. Demi, the owner creates beautiful 5-free hand-made lacquers. She has two collections out now, one of which I will show you now, a holiday collection, and two pretty multichromes that haven't been released yet which I'll show you in another post. So who's ready so see some pretties?!

Hypercube is a grape purple jelly polish filled with iridescent small square glitter. I really liked this one, though jellies aren't quite my thing, I like how the iridescent squares look suspended in the base. The formula was good, smooth and sheer like a jelly. Swatches below are one coat on my middle and ring and two coats on my index and pinky. All are topped with top coat.

Quantum Jewels is a black jelly with holographic particles along with large holographic circle glitters. I decided to layer this over a black base and I'm so happy I did! Look at how pretty it is!! I did have to fish for the large circle glitters which I figured because they are really big. The formula was great, smooth and sheer. Swatches below are one coat of Quantum Jewels over a black base topped with top coat.

The Golden Rule is a green leaning jelly glitter with with a slight gold shift and large gold holographic circles. I layered this one over black as well and it really brings that gold shift to life. I had to fish for these glitters as well which a suspected. (TIP: turn your bottles upside down for a few minutes before you use to make it easier to get glitters out!) The formula was the same as Quantum Jewels and swatches below are one coat of The Golden Rule over a black base topped with top coat. Sorry no bottle shot for this one, I hate when I take photos only to find out they didn't turn out right! :(

Black Holes and Dark Matter is a black jelly polish with small holographic glitters and medium holographic circles. I chose to layer this over black to make those glitters stand out. Unfortunately I didn't get any medium circles in my swatches but believe me they are in the bottle! The formula was the same as the others and swatches below are one coat of Black Holes and Dark Matter over a black base topped with top coat.
